Enabling or Disabling Junk Fax Prevention
Junk fax prevention disables printing of any faxes sent from fax telephone numbers not stored in the
speed dial directory.
To enable or disable junk fax prevention:
1. At the printer control panel, press the Machine Status button.
2. Touch the Tools tab, touch Service Settings, then touch Embedded Fax Settings.
3. Touch Incoming Fax Defaults, then touch Junk Fax Prevention. Touch:
• Enabled: Prevents faxes from printing if the fax telephone numbers are not stored in the
speed dial directory.

4. Touch Save.
5. Touch Close, then log out.

Xerox Colorqube 9301 Copier

If you do a ton of color copies, the Xerox Colorqube series may be a great fit for you.  If you do 3,000 color copies per month or so, probably not the best fit for you.  The Xerox Colorqube 9301 is for those users who are constantly printing or copying in color.  The appeal to the Colorqube copies is the cheap per print costs for color.  For example, there are a lot of “business copies” of color that are under $.03 per print.  Compare this to the $.065 or $.08 from other color copiers in Denver, this adds up fast.  Some will object to the high list cost (currently over $20,000) and will think they can never make this work.  Here is the math though…

Say your current color copier you do 8,500 color copies a month and you are paying an industry average of $.08 per color copy.  If these are everyday business color, the Xerox will be about $.025 per color print, making a $.055 cost differential per color copy.

$.055 X 8,500 = 467.50 differential in color print costs.  Now if you look at a five year lease and see that your lease rate factor is .021, you can divide the $467.50 by .021 and see that you could finance a copier that costs $22,261.90 — A colorqube can be bought cheaper than this.  So it appears the “breakeven point” could be closer to 7,500.  Now, if you have to buy another copier anyway, that copier may cost $11,000 anyway so you’d only need to save $9,000 over 5 years on color prints which works out to about 2725 color prints a month.  Yes, the Colorqube is expensive up front, we do not deny this. The value proposition of the Colorqube copier from Xerox is the long term Total Cost of Ownership.

Japanese Tsunami Affects Denver

I am sure that everyone is aware that a Tsunami hit Japan, we all we awe stuck as we saw the images of the destruction and chaos.  As you can imagine, any cataclysmic event that strikes the heart of one of the top 5 world economies will certainly have an effect world wide.  We are seeing the effects here in Denver as there is back orders on copiers who have manufacturing headquarters or operational headquarters in Japan.

So, which of the great copier companies are affected the most by the Tsunami?  Here are some of the major copier companies and their headquarters:

As you can see, many of the major copier manufacturers out there are Japanese.  Now, this affects lead time for everyone.  First, the major Japanese copier companies will be affected and as they are unable to fulfill demand, the American manufacturers will see a run on their inventory.  If you are buying a copier with a Japanese manufacturer and your copier dealer does not have the copier in stock, there should be a concern about getting the copier in a timely manner.  Some people are also concerned about the radiation from the nuclear plant that was in danger, but we don’t see that as a major concern at this point.  We sell Xerox and Lexmark as our primary two brands as we try and support American manufacturers of copiers.

Xerox Colorqube Sales in Denver, CO!

If you do alot of color copying, you may have heard of the Xerox Colorqube line of products.  The Xerox Colorqube 9201, the Xerox Colorqube 9202, and the Xerox Colorqube 9203.  These copiers start around $20,000 (or less than $500 a month for a typical copier lease) and the benefit is that color is much cheaper than traditional copiers.

There is a 3 tiered billing system where you get charged less than $.03 for a color sheet when it is calculated to be “useful” color…  meaning that if you have your logo and a small photo on the print, you wind up paying a cost much closer to a traditional black and white copy.

Don’t be fooled by the low cost per print.  This copier is not for everyone.  You need to have the print volume to support the cost of buying the Xerox Colorqube in the first place.  How can you decide?  The easiest method is to take the differential in color cost per print between the Colorqube and whatever other copier you are looking at and use that number to divide into the differential in copier equipment costs and that will give you your “breakeven point.” 

For example

Xerox Colorqube 9202 – $23,000

Other Copier — $8,500

Color Cost per print

Xerox Colorqube — $.05 (full color) 20% of copies, $.03 for “useful color” 80% — Average = $.034

Other Copier — $.065 

Differential — $.031

Breakeven = $14,500/$.031 = 467,741 color prints or copies (7,795 per month)

When looking for a color copier in Denver, many people seem to get stuck in the “paralysis by analysis” scenario.  They call 3 or 4 copier dealers in the Denver area.  Maybe the copier dealers represent 5 brands or so and then they have to compare the options and see what is the best for their particular needs.  Should they buy the Canon Color Copier, the Xerox Color Copier, the HP Color MFP, the Toshiba Color Copier or the Kyocera Color Copier?  It is difficult when one company is saying another companies copiers are bad and the circle continues…

There are many copier manufacturers who are doing “direct sales” these days.  There are associated benefits and detriments to purchasing from a manufacturer direct.  First of all, what copiers can you buy direct?  Xerox copiers, Lexmark copiers, HP copiers, Ricoh copiers, Canon copiers, Oce copiers, Toshiba copiers, Konica Minolta Copiers, the list gets endless.  So why buy from a manufacturer?  Conversely, what are disadvantages?

Advantages of buying a copier from a manufacturer:

• When there is a lemon, they are able to swap out and usually do it quicker
• Their set up engineers often are better at independent reps because they are just dealing with one brand rather than 4, they can learn them better
• They tend to stock a few more parts

Disadvantages:

• Customer service takes a hit in most cases, you get to call to India before you get a real service call going
• They tend to lack loaner devices or are unwilling to deploy them
• They are more rigid on contractual terms
• They are often more expensive using “canned” pricing rather than using special pricing so they can beat the competition.

So, why do manufacturers want to sell direct at all?  Profits.  If they can make an extra $1,000 on a copier deal and not share, that can be appealing.  The problem for them is if they get too aggressive selling direct, every reseller they work with will start switching their installed base with competition.  HP has been experiencing this a lot more over the last few years, so they are losing some printer market share.  Why?  No one can make money and people usually like to work with someone local!
